We know that you may have a lot of questions about the permanent residency ("greencard") process. Listed below are the procedures and documents you will need for each of these categories.

For people wishing to live and work in the U.S.A.

This section deals with the most common types of residency that are given to non-Americans. It details the steps that one would go through to become a permanent resident or citizen of the United States of America. Please click on the appropriate section to go to the proper area.

 

Family-sponsored immigrants: this sections talks about applying for family members (for example: marriage between a U.S. citizen and foreign person).

Employment-based immigrants (1st through 5th Preference): These are foreign workers for which a company can apply for permanent residence.

Diversity Immigrants (DV Program): use this link if you have won in the Diversity Immigrants Lottery ("visa lottery").

Refugees, Asylees, and TPS: foreigners who are in fear of persecution may find protection in the United States.
